From an email I got from the American Girl web site:

May 1 is "Stop the Bullying" Day!

Join girls nationwide as they take a stand—just like Chrissa, Girl of the Year 2009. Visit an American Girl store near you for FREE activities and a special group pledge.

~~~
I've seen the trailer for the American Girl movie about Chrissa. Starring Sammi Hanratty (best known as the Pringles Chips girl from an ad campaign years ago) as Chrissa. Blurb: "Meet Chrissa Maxwell. She and her family have just moved, and she has to start at a new school mid-year. Will she fit in? Can she find new friends? On her very first day, Chrissa is seated with three girls who greet her with teasing and tricks. The Mean Bees really know how to stingthey bully her in class, on the bus, online, and even at swim club. Chrissa cant seem to make any new friends; not even with the girl who seems to need a friend the most. When the biggest bully becomes Chrissa's swimming rival, the taunting finally goes too far. Now its up to Chrissa. Will she find a way to stand strong and stop the bullying?"
Buy the DVD here.
Please also help me petition to get this movie into my public library by clicking here. You'll need the following information to fill it out:
Have you ever named or befriended an inanimate object? What did you call it?
(I decided to cross-post this from my LJ because it's relevant to this community.)
All the time! Lessee, there's my toys:
* Dakota Bear (my teddy bear!), Buddy (a My Buddy doll of mine), Tracy Tiger, Princess Sunflower, Patch Cat, Chandra and Mercedes (black and hispanic "Barbies" of mine), and... oh shoot, that reminds me, I don't have a name for my little white blood cell toy.
Then I also named my computer (her name is Ahnai), I named the two cars I used to have (Sunny and Meg), and that's it. Well, them and the toys I *used* to have. (I misses them!)
I think I'll name some more!
Hewwo!
I like Mr. Rogers alot.  Sometimes when I cry, his deep wisdom and compassion are the only things I want.  But I don't have a tv, and don't want to get one.  Is there any site online that archives Mr. Rogers episodes for download or torrent?  I keep looking and looking and can't find one.
Also, sometimes I want to play.  I just want a friend to play with.  I don't know anyone around here who I could play with.  The young adults I work with only talk about sex, drugs, and loud music.  How do you find someone who wants to build sand castles, forts, and talk with their feet in the river water?  I'm pretty lonely and tired of just computers all the time for friends who live far away.  :<
Ok, thank you.
Hello, thankyou for accepting me into this group... its nice to find other people like me :). My name is Sarah and I'm 21 years old. I often feel, play and act like I am a little girl. I'm not ashamed of it, its a part of me I love... my inner child. I will never stop being like this as its not harming myself or anyone around me... it brings joy to my life and those I love... because I am a happy child :). I think the world would be a better place if everyone didn't push those child-like tendencies inside themselves just because society says so!
On another note, does anyone have problems with their self image... not because they think they are "fat" or not beautiful... but because they'd rather be thinner so that they felt like a little girl?
