Lisolette
24 July 2001 @ 08:25 am
She sits in the corner
she waits in the corner
she hugs her legs in the corner
she cries in the corner
wanting someone to pull her out
to the center of the room
recognize her eyes pleading
know the message they share
she wants them to read her mind
so she doesnt have to say the words
words that mean possible rejection
better for them to know what that head down means
or that frown
than for her to say
come here and help me
come here and see me
come here and be with me
I am so lonely
why cant they see it in her face
why cant they see her body slumping
why cant they see what she needs
She sits in the corner wanting to be in the
center of the room where people are
instead of hiding in the shadows
instead of hiding under defenses
instead of hiding in premature rejection
She sits in the corner and realizes
it wont make her feel strong
if they have to read her mind
it wont make her feel strong
if they have to decipher her movements
it wont make her feel strong
if she cant say
hey can you help me out
can you extend a hand
and I can grab it and lean on you
till I feel at ease
and then I can let go
and stand
it will make her feel strong
to take a chance
to let people know her needs
it will make her feel strong
to trust
it will make her feel strong
to believe people want her to
join them in the center
for anticipating her being an unwelcome presence
is just painful
and she has gone though this process long enough
its time to try
its time to take steps
to the center by herself
or at least ask for help
to reach it
